At airports, train stations and parking lots, conditions to be created for people with disabilities and limited physical capabilities

 


The Presidential Resolution “On measures to develop the infrastructure of barrier-free tourism and its stimulation in the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted.

According to the Resolution, from 2024:

for the unhindered movement of persons with disabilities at cultural heritage sites, ramps, skirting boards and elevators are installed without causing damage to these objects, as well as for the blind - models of cultural heritage objects in a reduced size, with information placed on them in Braille;

on railway and public transport, as well as at all airports, train stations, and bus stations, conditions are created and special lifting ramps and comfortable stair handrails are installed for persons with disabilities and persons with limited physical capabilities, and on-board strollers are provided (special strollers for persons with disabilities disability);

Until 1 January 2027 the following will be covered:

50 percent, but not more than 500 thousand soums, of travel expenses in Uzbekistan for one thousand persons with disabilities of groups I and II in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent;

50 percent of the cost of training courses for audiologists for persons with disabilities who have lost their hearing.

From 1 April 2024 to 1 April 2026, business entities providing hotel services are provided with a subsidy if at least three hotel rooms are comfortably equipped for the use of wheelchairs by persons with disabilities, as well as the installation of a display and voice devices for auditory and visual perception, for each specially equipped room in the following sizes:

hotels with star category – 2 million soums;

hotels that do not have a star category - 1 million soums.

The resolution approved a program of measures to develop barrier-free tourism infrastructure for persons with disabilities and create comfortable conditions for their travel.

The program includes, among other things:

from 1 March 2024, the creation of a Unified national tourism information portal Uzbekistan.travel for persons with disabilities;

organizing national craft therapy events for children with disabilities in every region of the Republic;

introduction of touch and voice displays for announcements on online platforms for the purchase of air tickets, railway and bus tickets in accordance with the relevant needs of people with hearing and visual impairments
