Uzbekistan to host International Ziyarah Tourism Week

  From November 1 to November 3, 2022, Samarkand, Khiva, Bukhara and Tashkent will host International Ziyarah Tourism Week.  The purpose of the event is to showcase the potential of the pilgrimage tourism in the country, make Uzbekistan one of the most attractive tourist destinations, gain high recognition from the world community and international organizations, as well as diversify pilgrimage tourism services and increase tourism exports. Tourism Week is held at the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in cooperation with a number of organizations.The weekly program includes exhibitions, seminars, scientific and practical conferences as well as cultural and educational events aimed at the development of pilgrimage tourism, a visit to the new Silk Road tourist center in Samarkand, the International Exhibition of Crafts on the theme “Khiva - the Capital of Tourism of the Islamic World” and other events. Pilgrimage tourism: Uzbekistan may become one of the best destinations for Malaysian tourists

  A delegation of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage as part of the Main Department of Bukhara region and the khokimiyat of the Bukhara region visited Malaysia.   On 7 October, Head of the UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan Sara Noshadi, together with Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov, visited cultural heritage sites in Bukhara.  In particular, they got acquainted with the repair and restoration work carried out at cultural heritage sites in the historical part of Bukhara, such as the Ark fortress, the Kalon mosque, the Abdulazizkhan and Ulugbek madrasahs, the Nadir Devonbegi madrasah, the Khoja Kalon mosque and pool Khoja Kalon.   On 27-30 September, one of the largest international forums “Friendship Bridge. Tourism 2022: new opportunities and prospects” was held in online format.
